The Road to the World Equestrian Games Our journey to the World Equestrian Games began when an invitation was extended to the U.S. Trotting Association in 2008. Lexington, Kentucky is the home of the famous Red Mile Race Track for Standardbreds. It was important to the people of Kentucky to have Standardbreds represented at this prestigious event. Videos were sent in to the U.S. Trotting Association and eight horses were selected to perform at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky 2010. Via emails and phone calls our U.S. Standardbred Team was formed and a 30 minute demonstration was performed Oct. 3- Oct. 6 at the Village Arena. The spectators enjoyed seeing pleasure driving, combined driving, western pleasure, dressage, stadium jumping and hunt seat. These are only a sample of the disciplines our American Standardbreds are seen in today. In Florida, Sea the Gray and Whiz Bang are in dressage training with Heather Caudill of Wildwood, FL. The Standardbred Pleasure Horse Org. of FL (SPHOFL) was honored to be able to send these two Standardbreds from Florida to the games. Trainer Heather Caudill choreographed a beautiful Pas de Deux to a medley of Michael Jackson tunes that wowed the crowd into applause. There is life after the race track for Standardbreds! Many are retired by the age of three. Saddle trained Standardbreds can be purchased through SPHO FL, Inc. See our Standardbreds for Purchase page. |
