The Standardbred Pleasure horse is an American breed with traceable roots to the
English Thoroughbred, Goldophin Arabian and the Morgan horse. Characteristics of
the Standardbred include an intelligent mind, strong sturdy bones, calm temperaments
and good work ethics.They come in a variety of sizes ranging from 15h to 17 h.
These horses were originally bred in the 1870s to race in harness down the streets
and at county fairs. They are considered a true family horse as they would race
one day and pull the family carriage to church on Sunday. Today, Standardbreds
are involved in all disciplines of riding and driving. Yes they canter, like any
other horse! As you peruse our site you will see our horses performing in parades,
dressage, cattle drives, obstacle challenges, police work, pleasure driving,
trail riding, jumping, endurance and ridden western.
