A gate's Gauge is a key driver in terms of durability and performance.
The lower the gauge, the thicker the steel, the higher the resilience or strength.
If you need a very strong gate that can withstand crowded animals and rough abuse,
you should select a Heavy Duty 14 or 16 gauges. If your conditions are less rugged
select a lesser gauge, which will be reflected by a higher number.

Weight is also a factor in a gate's resilience. Obviously the heavier a gate the more
rugged its durability. However a long gate in a heavy-duty steel can be very unwieldy
and harder to install. Before you make your gate selection consider how you will install
your gate and whether you will need an installation crew.
