Goal:
Curriculum:
The goal of the Institute of Veterinary Alternative therapy (IVAT) is to
provide a quality educational training program leading to certification to
individuals wishing to become Veterinary Health Managers. The IVAT 3 year
program is designed to educate future professionals in the skilled use of
three major holistic/alternative modalities.
The IVAT curriculum is an intense 3-year curriculum specializing in
alternative therapy with emphasis in Equine Health Management
The 1050-hour course of study with internship is comprised of three modules:
(1) TCM, 8 Principle, 5 Element, Acupuncture, Pulse Diagnosis, Chinese Herbs
(2) Classical Homeopathy
(3) Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Massage, Cranial Sacral, Bowen Therapy

Classes are usually held January through October.

Module testing will normally be held on a Saturday in November.
Friday 5pm-9pm
Saturday 9am-5pm
Sunday 8am-4pm
The modules are taught in a rotating sequence, and students may start the
program anywhere within the rotation.
Module 1: TCM and Acupuncture (2007, 2010...)
Module 2: Homeopathy (2008, 2011...)
Module 3: Osteopathy and Body Work (2009, 2012...)
Instructors:
Students will be trained by leading experts in each field including :
Dr. Peggy Fleming DVM AP,
Paul Herscu ND,
Ewe Petermann DVM,
Ron Riegel DVM,
Cyd Thurman DVM
as well as a host of other renowned clinicians.
Instruction:
Each module consists of 250 hours of classroom training with clinical labs.
A minimum of 100 hours of approved interning will be required for each module.
In total, the 3-year curriculum requires completion of 1050 hours of classroom
instruction, clinical lab and internship.
Testing:
A combination of homework, tests, practical lab sessions, and exams will be
utilized. A minimum score of 70% is required on each assessment in order
to pass.
All three modules must be successfully completed for certification.
Registration:
There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee for new students.
Class size is limited (25), and seats will be filled as applications are
approved and full tuition is received. Priority is given to students who
have completed previous modules.
